Wix Studio is a strong tool for agencies that design websites for clients. But if you want to run client stores under your own brand and charge a monthly price you set, it works very differently from a white-label platform.

In short
  • Wix Studio is built for agencies and freelancers who design client websites: one workspace for every project, client handovers, a no-code CMS and room for custom code.
  • Its partner programme pays a revenue share on eligible yearly plans, set by Wix. Your own monthly income from the client is a separate invoice.
  • Custom branding puts your agency logo on the client’s site dashboard and invitations, but the client still works in Wix and pays Wix for the plan.
  • A white-label ecommerce platform such as DripFunnel puts your brand on the whole portal, lets you set the monthly price and shows what you keep on every plan.

Many web agencies use Wix Studio every day, and for good reason. It is fast to design in, clients find it easy to edit, and Wix keeps the hosting running. The question comes when a client wants to sell online and you want that shop to become steady monthly income for your agency, under your own name.

This article compares Wix Studio with a white-label ecommerce platform on the things that matter to an agency: whose brand the client sees, who bills the client, how you earn and who owns the store. It is part of our guide to choosing the best ecommerce platform for agencies. All Wix facts were checked on Wix’s own pages on 21 October 2026 and are listed under Sources.

What is Wix Studio, and why do agencies like it?

Wix describes Wix Studio as “the website building platform for designers, developers, and marketers” working with clients. It brings every client project into one workspace, offers “customizable handovers” so clients get the right permissions, and has a no-code CMS so clients can update content without breaking the design. Developers can write custom code, and there are AI tools for sitemaps and wireframes. Online stores are built in too.

Agencies on Wix Studio can join the Wix Partner Program from their workspace. Wix lists 24/7 priority support, revenue share, and the chance to sell templates and keep the profit. Partners earn points for building and upgrading sites, and each level unlocks more benefits. Wix’s page mentions no fee to join.

Those are real strengths. If your agency mainly builds brochure sites, portfolios or content-heavy sites, Wix Studio is a sensible place to do it.

How do agencies earn with Wix Studio?

There are two ways: the fees you charge your client for your own work, and Wix’s revenue share. Wix’s help centre sets out the revenue share today:

  • Wix Studio plans paid yearly (or for two or three years): 20% for all partners, 30% at the top “Legend” level.
  • Wix Premium plans on sites built in the Wix Editor: 0% for most partners, 20% at Legend level.
  • Monthly plans earn no revenue share (except Google and Facebook ads).
  • Wix Payments on clients’ sites: a small share of daily sales, 0.05% or 0.10% depending on the day’s total.
  • You must be the first owner of the site, and the site must complete its trial. Payouts start once earnings reach $200.

This is a referral-style model, much like the Shopify Partner Program: the platform sets the rules and the percentage, and pays you a share of what your client pays it. Your monthly income from a client, such as a care plan or a store management fee, sits on top as your own invoice.

Whose brand does your client see?

Wix Studio’s custom branding puts your agency’s logo in the email invitations your clients receive and on their site dashboards, and your details in the banner of free sites you publish. That is useful: the client is reminded who built their site.

But it is a logo inside Wix, not your own product. Wix’s own feature-request page says that “currently, it is not possible for Wix Partners to fully customize and tailor the site dashboard for their clients.” Your client signs in to Wix, learns the Wix dashboard and deals with Wix for the plan. To see how far branding can go on other platforms, read “Powered by” branding: what it means and when you can remove it.

Who pays whom?

Wix lets partners send a client a payment request to upgrade a site. Wix’s help centre says “the payment is made directly to Wix”, and “all future billing for the site, including plan renewals, can be managed by your client.” Alternatively you pay for the plan yourself and recharge the client.

Either way, the plan price is Wix’s, not yours. If you want to charge a monthly fee for the store, you invoice it separately and explain to the client why they pay two companies. We compare the options across platforms in who pays whom: client billing on Shopify, Wix and white-label platforms.

Who owns the client’s site?

On Wix the site lives in a Wix account. You can keep it in your workspace and add the client as a collaborator, or transfer it to the client’s own account. Wix’s revenue share requires you to have been the first owner, “even if you no longer have access to it.” Once the site moves to the client, the relationship is between the client and Wix. Ownership on white-label platforms works differently, and is worth agreeing in writing: see who owns a client’s store on a white-label platform.

When is Wix Studio the better choice?

Be honest with yourself about what your clients need. Wix Studio is the better fit when:

  • The project is mainly a website, with a small shop or none at all.
  • The client wants their own Wix account and is happy to pay Wix directly.
  • You need Wix features beyond a shop, or custom code your team already writes in Wix.
  • You prefer project fees and a referral share over running stores as an ongoing product.

If your clients’ shops are growing, check the store side too. We cover catalogue, payment and tax limits in Wix for client online stores: where agencies hit the limits.

How DripFunnel handles this

DripFunnel’s partner programme is built for the other case: agencies that want online stores to be their own product, with a monthly price they control. More than 75 partners across the globe already run client stores on it.

  • Your brand on the whole portal. Your clients sign in to a merchant portal with your product name, logos, colours and font, on your own address, with your support email, help centre and legal pages. See put your brand on the merchant portal. Whether a “Powered by DripFunnel” line shows is set in your contract.
  • Your plans, your prices. You create the plans your clients choose from, with your own names, what each includes, an optional free trial, and monthly and yearly prices in the currencies your contract allows. See create your plans and prices.
  • A clear margin. You pay a wholesale fee per store per month, set in your contract. The plan editor shows DripFunnel’s fee and what you keep on every price, and warns you if a price is below the fee. Work through the numbers in agency margin maths.
  • No fee on orders. DripFunnel takes nothing from your clients’ sales. Shoppers pay the merchant through the merchant’s own payment account.
  • Shops built by AI. Your client, or your team, describes the shop in plain words and the AI builds the homepage, pages, menus and product pages to preview, approve and publish. See describe a change to your storefront.
  • All stores in one console. You create stores for clients, see each one’s plan, status and last month’s sales, and help inside a shop with a read-only support session the client has allowed. You never see their orders, customers or products.

DripFunnel is not a general website builder like Wix Studio. It is an ecommerce platform. Today, card and online payments and couriers are available for shops in India and the United States; payments for shops in the UAE are not available yet.

Can you use both?

Yes, and many agencies will. Keep building design-led websites in Wix Studio, and put clients who sell online on your own white-label store platform, where the monthly income is yours to set. The trade-offs of running several platforms are covered in clients on five platforms: why agencies standardise on one. If you are new to the idea, start with white-label ecommerce: what it is and how agencies use it.

Questions

Is Wix Studio a white-label platform?

Not fully. Wix Studio’s custom branding adds your agency logo to client invitations and site dashboards, but clients still work in Wix and pay Wix for their plan. Wix says partners cannot yet fully customise the site dashboard for clients.

How much revenue share does the Wix Partner Program pay?

Wix’s help centre lists 20% on Wix Studio plans paid yearly or longer, and 30% at its top Legend level. Wix Premium plans on Wix Editor sites earn 0% for most partners and 20% at Legend level. Monthly plans earn no revenue share, and you must be the site’s first owner.

Can I set my own price for a client’s Wix plan?

Not on Wix’s side. The plan price is Wix’s. You can charge your own fees on a separate invoice. On a white-label platform such as DripFunnel, you set the plan price yourself and pay a wholesale fee per store.

When should an agency choose Wix Studio over a white-label ecommerce platform?

When the work is mainly websites rather than stores, when clients want their own Wix account, or when you rely on Wix features beyond selling. For online stores run as your own monthly product under your brand, a white-label platform fits better.

Does DripFunnel take a fee on my clients’ orders?

No. Partners pay a wholesale fee per store, set in their contract, and DripFunnel takes no fee on the orders in their clients’ shops.
