Products, versions, photos and collections come with you. Here is what to look at before you switch your domain.

In short
  • DripFunnel brings your products, versions, photos and collections across from Shopify, from the Growth Pro plan.
  • Before you start, export everything else you want to keep from Shopify, such as customers and orders, as a backup.
  • Check every product, set up payments, delivery and tax, and place a test order before you switch your domain.
  • Protect your search traffic: list your most-visited addresses and make sure each one still leads somewhere useful after the move.

What comes across, and what doesn’t

Moving platforms sounds bigger than it is, as long as you know what moves automatically and what you handle yourself. DripFunnel’s Shopify import brings across the heart of your catalogue:

  • Products, with titles, descriptions and prices;
  • Versions, every size and colour combination with its own price, stock and code;
  • Photos;
  • Collections.

The Shopify import is available from Growth Pro. On Growth you can import products from a spreadsheet instead. Everything else, such as customer lists, order history, blog posts, pages, discount codes and app data like reviews, is not part of the product import. Export what you need from Shopify before you close it, and keep the files.

Shopify can export products, customers and orders as spreadsheet (CSV) files from its admin. Download all three before you start, even if you don’t plan to use them straight away.

Before you start: a short inventory

Spend half an hour writing down what your Shopify store does today. You’ll use this list to check nothing is forgotten.

  • How many products and versions you have, and which are your bestsellers.
  • Which payment methods and couriers you use, and your delivery charges.
  • Your tax settings, and any country-specific details such as HSN codes and MRP in India.
  • The apps you rely on, and what each one does for you.
  • Your pages: about, delivery, returns, contact, size guides.
  • Your most-visited addresses (from Shopify’s reports or Google Search Console).

Many Shopify apps are built into DripFunnel

A lot of what Shopify stores add through apps is part of DripFunnel’s plans. Check your app list against this table before you move, so you know what to switch off and what to set up again.

Step by step: moving your store

  1. Back up. Export products, customers and orders from Shopify and save the files.
  2. Describe your shop. Sign up and describe your shop so the AI can design the first version. See How to describe your shop.
  3. Import your products. Use Bring your products from Shopify (Growth Pro and above), or Import products from a spreadsheet (Growth and above).
  4. Check the catalogue. Open your bestsellers first. Check versions, prices, stock, photos and legal details like country of origin.
  5. Set up the money side. Connect a payment method, check delivery charges and tax. See Connect a payment method.
  6. Recreate your offers. Set up discount codes, automatic offers and cart reminders again.
  7. Add your pages. Ask the AI for the pages you listed: about, delivery, returns, contact.
  8. Place a test order. Go through checkout as a shopper, then check the order, invoice and emails.
  9. Switch your domain. Connect your domain to DripFunnel (Growth and above): you add one DNS record and DripFunnel handles the security certificate.
  10. Watch the first week. Check orders, payments and search traffic every day, then close your Shopify store when you’re confident.

Keep your search traffic

Your Google rankings belong to your addresses as much as to your products. Shopify addresses look like /products/indigo-scarf and /collections/scarves. If those addresses stop working after the move, visitors from Google and old links land on “page not found”, and rankings can drop. To protect them:

  1. Before the move, list your most-visited product, collection and page addresses.
  2. Keep product names and descriptions close to what they were, at least at first.
  3. Make sure each old address leads to the matching new page. Talk to us about the addresses on your list before you switch.
  4. After the switch, submit your new sitemap in Google Search Console and watch for “not found” errors for a few weeks.

Some movement in rankings for a few weeks after a move is normal. It settles faster when old addresses lead to the right new pages.

Want it done for you?

If you’d rather not do the move yourself, we can build your storefront for you for a one-time fee, shown on the Pricing page. The Enterprise plan includes migration and onboarding. For a side-by-side look at both platforms, read DripFunnel vs Shopify.

Questions

What comes across from Shopify to DripFunnel?

Products, versions, photos and collections, using the Shopify import on Growth Pro and above. Export customers, orders and anything else you want to keep from Shopify before you close it.

Which DripFunnel plan do I need to move from Shopify?

The Shopify import is on Growth Pro and above. On Growth you can import products from a spreadsheet exported from Shopify instead.

Will I lose my Google rankings if I move?

Not if you plan for it. List your most-visited addresses, make sure each one leads to the matching new page, keep product names similar, and submit your new sitemap after the switch. Some movement for a few weeks is normal.

How long does moving from Shopify take?
